Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum has planned a variety of fun, interactive summer day camps for children age 5-11 years. There is a day camp for every child including one, two and five day camps like Grow a Garden, Stir It Up Cooking Camp, Zoo-seum Camp, Try It and Cook What You Grow Camps. New this year is the MMCM Explore the City camp! Hop a bus for new adventures every day all around the neighborhood. Visit the Castle Museum, Hoyt Library, the Splash Pad and Fuzzy’s Dairy to mention a few destinations.
Campers attending the five day Zoo-seum Camp, July 15 – 19, will spend time at both the Children’s Zoo and the Children’s Museum! At the Zoo, campers will get up close and sticky with the strange and awesome things that animals do. At the MMCM, campers will visit cyberspace via a Video Conference, fashion a one-of-kind t-shirt, sculpt a clay bowl, practice frosting cupcakes and more fun activities. Gallery play is included in this fun-filled week!
Grow a Garden campers will create their own garden stepping stone and mini-greenhouse. Cooking and eating are featured in the Stir It Up Camp, July 10 or July 11 and Cook What You Grow Camp, August 28 and 29. Stir, mix, chop, whisk, and shake it all up! Campers will try a variety of recipes that incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables, some from the MMCM garden! Everything goes at the MMCM Try It Camp, July 31 or August 1. Stir up a batch of playful polymers and crystallize a tennis ball! Safety glasses included!
Day camp fees range from $30 to $195 and include all supplies and snacks. Discounts apply for MMCM or Zoo members. Campers should bring their own lunch with a beverage. A limited number of camp scholarships are available through the Jane Fowle Memorial Fund and Julie Cookenmaster Memorial Scholarship Fund. Adults may send a letter to the MMCM, PO Box 2283, Saginaw, MI 48605 to apply for a scholarship for their child. Visit the website or call 989.399.6626 for more information.
