Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum has planned a variety of fun, interactive summer day camps for children age 6 – 9 years. There is a day camp for every child including two and five day camps like Grow a Garden, Zoo-seum Camp, Learn with STEM, Explore the City and Cook What You Grow Camps. Camp scholarships are available and funded by the Julie Barris Cookenmaster and the Jane Fowle Memorial Funds.
Campers attending the five day Zoo-seum Camp, July 21 – 25, will spend time at both the Children’s Zoo and the Children’s Museum! At the Zoo, campers will get up close and sticky with the strange and awesome things that animals do. The MMCM features the new Amazing Airways gallery and activities will take place in the shade of the new Solar Spot pavilion!
Learn with STEM campers will explore the MMCM galleries with an eye toward science, technology, engineering and math = STEM. Water, air currents, magnets, electricity, and polymers are featured too on Wednesday and Thursday, August 6 and 7.
Explore the City with your friends the week of August 11 – 15! Hop a bus for a new adventure every day! Campers will visit the zoo, splash pad, Temple Theatre, the Farmers Market just for starters! A MMCM t-shirt is included with the camp fee.
Cook What You Grow Camp, August 20 and August 21 – campers will stir, mix, chop, whisk, and shake it all up! Campers will try a variety of recipes that incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables, some from the MMCM garden! Stories, games and experiments will teach children about the benefits of gardening.
Day camp fees range from $55 to $140 and include all supplies and snacks. Discounts apply for MMCM or Zoo members. Campers should bring their own lunch with a beverage. A limited number of camp scholarships are available through the Jane Fowle Memorial Fund and Julie Cookenmaster Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum is located at 315 West Genesee Avenue in Saginaw. The MMCM places priority on teamwork, creativity and critical thinking through discovery-based learning for children from birth to 12 years of age. Special rates are available for groups who pre-schedule visits to the MMCM. The MMCM is also an ideal location for play groups, scout troops, field trips, birthday parties, family reunions and corporate events.
